Hi Lovelies,
As the COVID-19 lockdown continues, we're doing more business meetings and quality time with our loved ones on video apps like Zoom, Facetime and Duo. It can be tough to look and feel our best when it seems like we've been living in the same pair of yoga pants for the past three months, so I've put together 5 of the best tips on how to look and feel awesome on video-based on my own personal experience!
1. Self-Care
Getting a good night's sleep, eating healthy and tasty food, personal grooming, doing some exercises and other things that make us feel joyful and energized go a long way in helping us feel and look our best. In fact, I believe self-care is the Number 1 thing we can do right now to show up at our best for our work, friends and families during these crazy times, because it gives us back our control over the situation.
2. Lighting
Lighting can make or break for good you look on camera. I've found that sitting facing a large window gives me nice light during daytime videos. During nighttime calls, or on dark and cloudy days, a table lamp set to highlight my face is so much better than an overhead light. A ring light for vlogging is even better.
3. Camera Angle
Having the right camera angle for your face is essential to looking and feeling your best on video calls. I've found that, for me, if I'm looking slightly up at my camera, that gives me my best angle. Plus making sure that I'm set up to have a good, uncluttered background gives me peace of mind that no one can see the big pile of clothes in my living room!
4. Dress
I don't know what it is, but actually putting on a pretty blouse and doing my hair and make-up makes me feel amazing! I think it relates back to self care, it's a ritual that helps set the tone for the day. I favor bright, happy colors that I know make me look bright and happy, too.
5. Accessories
This is where the fun is when joining a video call! Picking out the perfect pair of earrings, your favorite statement necklace, a cute hat or scarf adds that finishing touch to looking and feeling your best on camera. Your boss and work colleagues will think you're on top of getting things done, and your friends and family will want to know your secretes on surviving quarantine with style!
